New Music On The Bayou

New Music on the Bayou is a music festival that takes place in north Louisiana. Their previous branding was ineffective and felt outdated and I wanted to give the event a more modern look. The client still wanted to incorporate an egret into the main design as they felt it is a prime part of their brand and I did not want to leave it out. With that in mind, I decided to encase the egret in the shape of a heart to represent the continuous support and love NMB has for the environment around them.

I was truly inspired when reading the mission statement of New Music and what they stand for. So I decided to bring some of that to my design in the form of colors. The blue represent the waters of the bayous while the green represents the environment and all the forms of life that reside in it. The orange represents the beautiful sunsets that occur in the south. While the red symbolizes the love New Music On The Bayou has for what it believes in, the ability to combine the heart and soul of the south with the growth of music.

This was one of the first projects in my career that I worked on using a geometric style. I am always open to trying new styles, yet there is a certain look I tend to work inside, because it helps your eyes see things from different angles.
